Gamasutra Lists Twenty Influential Women in the Gaming Industry
Thu, 22 May 2008 17:50:20 +0000
(Robin Hunicke)Â Gamasutra has an amazing homage to twenty very talented and creative women in the gaming industry who range from creative consultants to producers, level designers to directors, and many other positions that without which - games would never be made. While the list is not all encompassing, meaning that it is indeed short, to take into consideration every female doing an important and influential job in this industry would take eons to complete - especially with new positions and women coming into the fold on a daily basis. Gaming has long been seen as a boys club of sorts, and all my feminist ideals aside, this is a wonderful way to let the world know that women do in fact play a very significant role in the industry without burning bras or marching in the streets shouting.
Every Woman You Know as a Character from Mario
Thu, 22 May 2008 17:17:02 +0000
College Humor is a pretty fun site and while looking through it today I found this hilarious little gem comparing women to characters from Mario. Normally a female might take offense to being compared to a Toad, Goomba, Bowser or Warp Pipe, but in this case it is pretty damn hilarious and after reading each description I realized that I knew a real life counterpart of each example. Pretty sad.Anyway, here is just one example from the list which you can view in its entirety after you hit the link.
Fable 2 Looking Better With Every Screenshot
Thu, 22 May 2008 17:00:28 +0000
Lionhead is doling out the Fable 2 screens in small increments and while they are indeed pretty lovely, I would like to see more than just “pretty” from here on out. Give us an actual trailer with gameplay footage - not ambiance, not filled with cutscenes, or artists renderings. An honest to goodness trailer - full of blackjack and hookers. Oh yeah, a some sword play too along with some of those consequences you have been talking about.
BioShock Confirmed for the PS3
Thu, 22 May 2008 16:30:33 +0000
It had to happen sooner or later, what with all the rumors flying around. Apparently, the next issue of the UK magazine, PSM3, has a cover story announcing the acclaimed FPS BioShock will be making its way to the PS3 soon. Normally, I’d relegate this as rumor until an official announcement was made or the magazine was actually on news stands, but this news comes from CVG who is directly affiliated with the magazine; and I’d call that the next best thing to an announcement from the publisher. Plus there’s another European magazine running a similar story it seems. Sadly, there are no new details about the PS3 version at this time, but hopefully they’ll add a few extras for this version. At the very least, you can probably expect enhanced graphics.
ASH: Archaic Sealed Heat May Be Headed to North America
Thu, 22 May 2008 16:20:10 +0000
Say what you want about the ESRB, but when it comes to announcing game titles before the official announcement, you could not ask for a better spoiler site. This time, the potential spoiler comes in the form of an E+10 rating for ASH: Archaic Sealed Heat which was originally released for the Nintendo DS in Japan. Nintendo nor Mistwalker have officially announced the RPG for the States, but with E3 2008 just around the corner - it is bound to happen soon.
More Metal Gear Solid 4 Screens Than You Can Shake A Snake At

Fans of MGS and PS3 owners alike cannot wait for June 12th to arrive. Who could blame them though? MGS4 looks amazing, is a great series, and this is the last time we will ever get to play as the venerable Snake. Supposedly.
